The present article is devoted to the check-raise and going-all-in strategies that you can use during the Texas Holdem Poker games. These three actions are very beneficial when they are used the right way, but be careful if you are a novice player, because they could be rather sneaky.

The action of check-raising is a very subtle move that may not be understood by all poker players. When somebody uses this strategy it means that he/she considers his/her cards to be the best. Note that if there are too many beginner players at the table, they might not understand what exactly is happening. That is why check-raising is used mostly by master poker players.

Imagine, now, that you are at the poker table and the betting round begins. You are the first to act and you check. After all other players have put their bets, you may raise the bet of the last person who acted. In this way another betting round takes place, where your opponents have the options to either call your bet, raise it or fold. Note that you can not check if someone at the table has already made a bet. Of course, you'd better raise in the cases when you are holding one of the strong Texas Holdem hands.

When you are using the check-raise strategy you need to be very certain about your moves. That is to convince your opponents

you are holding the best hand at the table. If you play it well, other participants would fold and you would win the pot. In that sense, check raise strategy may be considered a good way to narrow down competition.

On the other hand, when there are more players, there are more callers and consequently the pot will grow bigger.

The check raise strategy, however, is not used only by the players with the best hands. It may also be a means to bluff. Actually, it is quite a risky action, because you count on your opponents' willingness to fold.

The all-in strategy is typical more of the aggressive poker players, as means to bet everything that you have with only one move. Going all in implies that you have the best hand possible at the Texas Holdem table. Depending on the amount of money that you are wagering, your opponents may call your bet, raise more (assuming they can afford that) or fold. The last option, of course, would be the best for you. How can you be sure you are holding the best hand? Well, you can never be sure, that is where all the excitement comes from actually. You can only guess that - have you heard of the Texas Holdem tells? This is the ability to read your opponents in order to get a notion of what hand they might be holding.

The all-in tactics is in most of the cases a winning one, because very few poker players would have the guts to call your huge bet, if you have convinced them you are holding the winning hand. It depends a lot on what your Texas Holdem playing style is - aggressive players tend to bet more. But even if you are not one of this type, you can risk once in a while.
