Annie Duke

Annie Duke was born in Concord, New Hampshire, in 1965.  She graduated from Columbia University, Annie Dukemajoring in Psychology and English.  She then attended the University of Pennsylvania, studying cognitive psychology.  Annie is a mother of four children.  Her brother is Howard Lederer, who is another very talented professional poker player.  She currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

Annie's brother Howard first introduced her to poker, when he invited her out to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker.  From the beginning she enjoyed poker.  Howard taught her the basics, and soon after Annie began taking poker seriously.  She had success very early in her career, finishing 13th and 2nd in her first two tournaments.

After moving to Las Vegas Annie made WSOP history in 1994.  She clinched the best finishing position for a woman ever in the World Series, finishing 26th, remarkably when she was pregnant.  Since then she has continued to prove that women can play just as well if not better than men in poker, a sport dominated by men.  In 2004 she won her 1st WSOP bracelet in a Omaha Hi/Lo event.

Annie has wrote the book "How I Raised, Folded, Bluffed, Flirted, Cursed, and Won Millions at the World Series of Poker".  She has also tutored Ben Affleck in poker.  She has accomplished all of these things while still finding time for her husband and children.
