Clonie Gowen was born in Oklahoma in 1971. She was the youngest of six children. In her youth, she was a talented athlete, competing on a state championship basketball team and the high jump in track and field. Clonie also won Miss Teen McAlester, Oklahoma at the age of 15. She currently resides in Dallas, Texas.
Gowen participated in her first major poker tournament in 2002 at the World Poker Tour's Costa Rica Classic. She barely missed the final table, finishing one spot short in 10th place. For the first time Clonie received attention nationwide for her poker talent.
For her efforts at the Costa Rica Classic, Gowen was invited to the WPT's Ladies Night Invitational. She beat out an impressive field of professional poker players including Jennifer Harman and Annie Duke to win the event.
Clonie's win at the WPT's Ladies Night Invitational is her only 1st place finish to date. Her highest finish in a World Series of Poker event is 19th at the '06 WSOP in a No Limit Hold'em event. She has reached a total of 7 final tables at various major tournaments.
When she's not at the poker tables, Gowen makes time for her husband and two children. She also spends time organizing and hosting charity events.
