Professional Poker Players
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu was born in 1974 in Ontario. In his youth he
was a great billiards player. Negreanu then began playing poker and was known throughout the Toronto area as a great player, and decided to move to Las Vegas to pursue a career as a professional poker player.
Negreanu struggled at the beginning of his career in Vegas. He finally made a breakthrough in 1998. Playing in his first World Series of Poker in a Pot Limit Holdem Event, he become the youngest WSOP bracelet winner at the age of 23. Then in 1999 he won the U.S. Poker Championship, solidifying his ability and showing the world that he was the best newcomer to the poker world.
2004 was Daniels best year at the World Series of Poker, winning his third WSOP bracelet and cashing in 5 other events. He was named the WSOP 2004 Player of the Year, as well as the Card Player Magazine Player of the Year. He consistently makes final tables and wins events on the tournament circuit, and is a great high stakes cash game player as well.
Daniel contributed to Doyle Brunson's Supersystem I & II, and he has recently wrote his own book, "Daniel Negreanu's Power Holdem Strategy". Negreanu also recently attempted to enter the online poker world, launching his new poker room Full Contact Poker. Unfortunately, after the passing of the UIGEA the room shut down.
He continues to play his somewhat wild poker strategy and this unique style makes him one of the most entertaining players to watch.
Negreanu plays online poker at PokerStars, where he is an officially sponsored pro.
