Doyle "Texas Dolly" Brunson

Doyle Brunson is one of the most famous and recognizable face in poker. Known as the "grandfather of poker", he is part of a very exclusive group of players to win back to doyle brunsonback World Series of Poker titles.  His son Todd Brunson is also a professional poker player.

Brunson was born in Texas in 1933. From the start, Doyle was very competitive. He excelled in basketball. He was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers, but unfortunately a knee injury abruptly ended his basketball career. He graduated from college with a degree in education.

He needed an outlet for his competitive energy and a way to support his new family and found both with poker. He became one of the first "rounders", making his living at poker. After moving to Vegas he went on to win 2 WSOP titles in a row. The "10-2" was born in those 2 years, as this hand won him both titles and this hand would forever be known as the "Doyle Brunson".

His success continued in both major tournaments such as the WSOP, and many high stakes cash games. He was one of the original participants in "the big game", which was and still is the highest stakes cash game you can find, played amongst a group of the best professional players.

Doyle is easily one of the best poker players of all time. He shares a record 10 WSOP bracelets with 2 other professional players, and is a member of the Poker Hall of Fame. He wrote the famous "Supersystem I & II". Many consider this book to be the "bible" of poker, and it is a must read for any player wishing to improve their poker game. Doyle continues to be a force in the poker world, and educates new players daily by taking their money in high stakes cash games.
