Gus "The Great Dane" Hansen

Gus Hansen was born in Copenhagen in 1974. As a child he enjoyed competitive sports and played poker with his friends

in his spare time. Hansen also served in Denmark Military.

In 1993, he moved to California and began playing cards on a more serious basis at a local casino. As he became a better player and won more and more money, he began to travel across the country to play in various events. In 2003, he won his first major live event, capturing the World Poker Tour's L.A. Poker Classic title. By 2004 Gus had won 3 WPT events, and won over $2 million in tournament prize money.

Hansen is also a well known force at high stakes cash games. He has played in "the big game" in Vegas with many other poker superstars, where millions are at stake on a nightly basis. Gus is also an avid sports bettor.

Gus has had years of success in the World Poker Tour, winning 4 WPT Events, making additional final tables, and cashing many more times. He is part of a very exclusive club of only 3 players to be elected to the WPT Walk of Fame.
