High stakes no-limit Texas Holdem poker games, both live and at online poker sites, attract big money. This being the case, they also attract big players. Not everyone at a high stakes no-limit Texas Holdem poker table is a poker superstar. They may be a wealthy amateur looking for a thrill, a lucky WSOP winner trying to mix it up with the big stars, or a middle stakes player looking to move up. However, if you happen to notice any of the following people sitting at your high stakes no-limit Texas Holdem poker table, it may be time to look for greener pastures.
Phil Ivey
Ask almost any high stakes poker player who they would least likely to be across the table from, and most of them would answer Phil Ivey. Barely in his 30s, Ivey has five World Series of Poker bracelets and numerous World Poker Tour final appearances. Ivey would likely have even more tournament trophies if he didn’t spend most of his poker time beating the biggest cash poker games in the world.
Doyle Brunson
Literally the man who wrote the book on no limit Texas Holdem, known as the Super System, Doyle Brunson is the granddaddy of poker. Much of today’s no limit Texas Holdem theory is attributable to Doyle. Doyle has been beating the toughest high stakes no-limit Texas Holdem games for decades, and continues to do so into the 21st century.
Todd Brunson
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Doyle’s son Todd Brunson is a ubiquitous presence at the “big game” at the Bellagio and dominated billionaire Andy Beal as part of “the corporation,” a consortium of poker players designed to relieve the poker savvy and extremely deep stacked Beal of millions.
Ted Forrest
Noted for his attraction to unusual proposition bets, Ted Forrest is a fierce competitor and well known on the poker circuit for being widely skilled at a variety of games, including high stakes no-limit Texas Holdem.
Johnny Chan
