Marcel Luske was born in 1953 in Amsterdam. Unlike many other professional poker players, he did not get into poker at an early age. For the majority of his life, he was a businessman and owned his own pub. He quit his job in 2003 to become a full time professional poker player.
Marcel is one of the more popular players in Europe. He has had a huge amount of success on the European tournament circuit, especially in European Poker Tour and World Poker Tour Events, winning 5 events and making many more final tables.
In 2003-04 he became a popular player in US poker circles, after his remarkable finishes in the World Series of Poker. He finishes just a few spots away from making final tables both years, amongst a record amount of participants each year. In 2004 he also became friend and mentor to David Williams, who ended up making the final table and finishing 2nd to Greg Raymer.
Marcel has recently appeared on NBC's Late Night Poker, and made yet another World Poker Tour final table at the WPT World Championship, finishing 3rd. He is yet to win a WSOP bracelet, but with his talent it is just a matter of time until he claims his place in WSOP history.
