Examples Of Flopped Sets In Fixed Limit Omaha Hi-Lo
You hold 8s 8c 9c Ts and the flop comes 8h 3s Kd.
Usually bet out here. You want to make opponents with low draws pay to catch them, as they might otherwise get half your pot for free. If raised, you should usually call and proceed with caution, since you could be getting raised with KK. Some poker players will raise with A2 here.
If another low card comes on the turn there is little point in continuing to bet, as you are probably playing for half the pot and may lose everything if someone makes a straight or flush on the river.
You hold Qs Qd Ah 2s and the flop comes Qc 4s 3d.
This flop might be one of the few candidates for a slow play. No flush is apparent, few cards can give an opponent the nuts and even a card that puts a straight out there may give you the nut low. This is a flop where you do not want to eliminate players.
You hold 3h 3c Jh Tc and the flop comes 3d 8s 4s.
This is a flop where you should probably not bet at all. You are, in all likelihood, already only playing for half the pot. If a spade comes you will lose to a flush, and you may already be behind to a higher set.
Other Notes On Sets In Omaha Hi-Lo
It is important to remember that a set is formed with a pair in your hand. If you have trips by matching a card on a paired board, the situation is very different, as full houses become likely.
