Vanessa "Lady Maverick" Rousso

Vanessa Rousso was born in New York in 1983. She starting playing poker when she was five years old. Rousso attended Duke University vanessa roussoon a full scholarship, and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics after just 2 1/2 years.

After graduation she attended the University of Miami Law School on another scholarship.  She made the dean's list in her first 2 years, and participated in countless extra curricular activities. Most notable of these extra curriculars is The Celebrity Players Tour Florida, a major charity golf event which she organized. Rousso is a dual citizen of the United States, and she can speak three different languages.

During school Rousso played chess and backgammon.  She started being more and more drawn to poker as many chess and backgammon players do.

Vanessa got into serious tournament poker during the summer while attending law school. She has finished in the money in 14 major tournaments. Rousso won her first major live tournament in 2005, a No Limit Hold'em event at the No Limit Hold'em Summer Series in Las Vegas.

Rousso became well known in the poker world in 2006 after finishing in 7th place at the World Poker Tour Championship Event. Later that year she finished in 8th place at a $5,000 shorthanded No Limit Hold'em event at the World Series of Poker.

Outside of the poker room, Vanessa is a spokesperson for GoDaddy.  She describes herself as an adrenaline junkie, and is an avid skydiver and bungie jumper.
